Best practice for effective access and involvement of independent advocacy for an adult in Adult Support and Protection processes

This document sets out good practice guidance for independent advocacy when an adult is defined as ‘at risk’ under the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007. The guidance includes information on advocacy in general (and its links with human rights and trauma-informed practice). There is also specific info on advocacy during case conferences and Large Scale Investigations. The guidance also covers non-instructed advocacy, advocacy with carers, and local planning.

This resource is part of the National ASP Learning and Development Framework. It is a potential learning resource for the ASP Council Officer workforce, the Intensive workforce, and the Specific workforce.
