Adults with hoarding behaviour guidance (Renfrewshire)
Useful for: Those developing guidance for adults with hoarding behaviour and/or anyone who is working with this issue.
This guidance describes what is meant by hoarding. It outlines the types of behaviour that may come under the definition of hoarding, and describes the impact it can have. This includes the risks both to the individual and to those around them. Steps to mitigate these risks, and the support available for those affected by hoarding, are set out.
The guidance explains three approaches to addressing hoarding behaviour:
- single agency response
- formalised multi-agency complex case management, and
- investigations under the Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007).
The guidance was developed by a multi-agency working group.
