We have a really exciting and rare opportunity to design and deliver something totally new with no external funding restrictions.

We want to work with leaders in social care – people in leadership roles, those who want to move into them, and people in transition.

We want to support leaders to be the best they can be

In the past we have worked with social care but this hasn’t been a big part of our work for some time now. We know there is a lot we don’t know about the sector.

It’s clear that it’s a sector facing significant challenges – around funding and staffing – these are not easy to fix, and can’t be fixed by just one new programme. We also recognise that despite these pressures there are extremely dedicated and talented people doing great work. There are opportunities to innovate and leaders can have real impact outwith their organisation – the new opportunities for IJB representation as an example.

With this context we want to make sure anything we offer to support leaders is firmly grounded in what really matters and tailored to their needs. There are good resources that already exist and we don’t want to just add another thing into the mix. We are keeping an open mind about what the ‘thing’ is that we develop. We have a wide range of experience and skills across the Iriss team in working alongside people to build capacity and skills for innovating and navigating complexity – we will bring this into our new offer.

We need your help to do this – please come along and tell us what matters to you – what you need to be the best leader you can be, and what is getting in the way of that. We want to hear from people already in leadership roles, and people who are looking to move in to them. Our discussion sessions will be informal and confidential spaces for you to share your views, there is no commitment to any next steps and nothing you need to prepare in advance.
