This report describes the development of Key Capabilities in Child Care and Protection, which set out the knowledge and skills an emerging social worker should have in relation to children and their needs by the point of qualifying. The report looks at the two phases of the project:
- Phase One - the development of the Key Capabilities and the document to support them, and
- Phase Two - the embedding of the Key Capabilities within social work programmes.
Finally, the report includes feedback from stakeholders at key stages as well as analysing the themes which emerged during the development and implementation of Key Capabilities. The project team wish to take this opportunity to thank the many colleagues who supported this project by giving of their time and feedback so generously during the development phase.
