This discussion document on continuing professional development (CPD), commissioned by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), marks an important step in workforce development for the social services sector in Scotland. We are publishing it at a time when there has never been greater interest in the concepts of CPD and lifelong learning, driven by factors such as the publishing of the SSSC Codes of Practice, the challenging timetable for SSSC registration and the emerging considerations of the 21st Century Social Work Review.
